Winter Weather Relief Pop-Up Shelter

From November 29th, 2024, to February 20th, 2025, WLCDC provided low-barrier emergency shelter during inclement weather. In collaboration with Gateway 180 and St. Louis City DHS, we offered essential supplies, support services, and shelter access, including frostbite and wound care treatment, as well as pathways to recovery resources.

With few warming centers and limited preparation time, WLCDC, alongside dedicated volunteers and partner programs, provided shelter and meals to an average of 22 individuals each night during sub-zero temperatures. On the coldest days, WLCDC operated 24/7 to ensure no one was left without a safe place. These extreme conditions presented immense challenges, including food insecurity, weather-related injuries, and mental health and substance use struggles. WLCDC’s volunteers and community partners worked tirelessly to meet these urgent needs and provide crucial care. With St. Louis winters reaching as low as 0°F, we rely on your support to prepare for the next season.
